Day 23: Afternoon Routine/ meal planning

I was able to transfer some of my night time routine tasks

Prep formula tray

Litter box

Make bedtime shakes

Feed turtle

To the afternoon schedule- easing up the night time work load. Which was nice because night time is one of the babies worse times of day- by 4pm he is done with the day making after dinner kind of crappy.

Beginning stages of meal prepping- writing down some of our favorite meals.

I’m also beginning to see that because night time is such a rough spot in our family I need to make quick’n’simple dinners. Preferably just something to heat up. Meaning our biggest home cooked meal is after school 14:30- instead.

Day 15: Make Bed

Oh no! I am absolutely DREADING this task. I sleep on the couch, which means folding up all the blankets, sheets and pillows, replacing the couch cushions and storing everything away…. daily.

Ugh. Not only that but having to help the kids make their beds- yikes. Just. Yikes.

Day 16: Learning the Flylady system

Morning routine has been taking me 1 hr each morning, not impressed because after morning routine I’m making meals and cleaning up. I feel as though all I’m doing all the time is maintaining the mess. A bit discouraged.

Took 30 minutes to clear off and find places for the clutter- I don’t just want to move things from one place to another.

Day 17: Sleep

I either go to bed way to early or way to late- having a baby who wakes 3 times a night doesn’t help the cause.

Instead I will do laundry once a week from start to folded and put away.

August 1st, 2017

Day 8: Creating Your Control Journal

Check. Complete.

Beginning morning routine- you are suppose to add no more then three items but I’m a mom- if I only put three I’d fail at motherhood even more then I already do. Below is what I do in the am any where from 6:30-11

Morning:
Wake

Bathroom- potty, change clothes, deodorant, wash face with cold water.

Feed baby

Unload dishwasher

Breakfast

Reload dishwasher

Sweep floor, wipe table, wipe counters, maintain shiny sink.

Get kids dressed

Brush all our teeth

Evening routine:

Dinner

Clean up

Shine Sink

Prep formula tray for bed

Make bedtime green smoothies

Brush teeth

Kids bedtime routine: Jammie’s, stories, snuggles, bed

Work

I’m a bit concerned to how much more will be added to my routine- it is only day 8 after all.

Today I gave the kids an orbeez bath while the baby napped- which gave me 1.5 hrs to clean the bathroom.

Flylady suggests the timing thing, take a break- but because my home is out of control I’m going to take whatever time I can get. I’m sure using this system exact will be such a help when I am maintaining.

Day 9: Five Minute Room Rescue

Spent 5 mins in the creative room only to realize that while it is the room that would make the biggest difference (kid things would not be everywhere only in said room) I have the most emotional attachment.

Arts, crafts, teaching – they’re my life- and one of the biggest problems I have is I put this ahead of EVERYTHING- being able to spend time with the kids doing art is amazing- HOWEVER- the home gets sacrificed and in doing so our health, and happiness.

It’s the pain of coming to terms with reality- that I can’t spend all my waking hours 13 pleasing the kids- making it extremely fun – that I actually have to step up and be the mom, be responsible and look after needs before fun- a hard pill to swallow- I just don’t want to lose their love and acceptance- one of my greatest challenges.

After this picture I did however have to open the bag and recycle (paper, plastic, cardboard, metal) so actual garbage was not much honestly. It took me another 10 mins to sort and throw.

Day 12: Delete email clutter

I’m a digital extreme minimalist if it isn’t used it goes. My email is at inbox zero and I never subscribe to newsletters that I know I won’t keep up with. If only my home felt as good as my cellphone.

Maybe this is why I try to spend most of my time on the cell. It’s clutter free and relaxing.

Day 13: First Mission

Worked on the hallway pile- feel like I got absolutely nowhere. I can’t even take a picture because it doesn’t look different. Moved the playpen from the livingroom to the playroom and EVERYTHING exploded in its wake.

Feeling defeated.

Day 14: Use a calendar or agenda

I’ve been using one for awhile so I just continued to add flylady things inside- thinking of ditching the Control Journal and just placing that information into my agenda.

Still need to think about it.

Flylady Journey: Week 1 BabySteps- Feelings, Pictures, Progress

Intro:

Flylady 11 commandments

I’m overwhelmed. Plain and simple. I’ve been trying to get my home clean, organized and maintained for 4 years. I’ve tried everything but this- so let’s get started.

But first- some background, I’m a stay-at-home Mom to three small kids (5,3,3 months) without rules, structure or well anything. Life is a chaotic mess with little fun and a ton of out of control behavior. I’m on a mission to change my entire life.

From hoarder to minimalist

From no rules/structure to having them.

From being a yelling mom to not needing to.

From codependent to independent and self-sufficient.

The list goes on and on- but that’s many more different journeys this journey is to get the clutter and mess away opening up the possibilities for greater change.

I’m going to use the flylady approach for more deeper information visit Flylady

Day 1: Shine your sink.
Gulp… that’s not so easy. I have to first get through all the clutter. Appliances, dirty dishes, clean dishes, art trays etc. a little overwhelmed to be honest.

Total time: 1 hr 10 mins

Final thoughts:

Feeling great, loving the feel of the kitchen every time I walk in. Not loving the hubby coming in and putting stuff on the shiney counter.

I do find that I’m a little more anal about the above said, it took a big portion of time away from spending time with the kids, working, or just resting.

I shall get through this- just need some systems that will help the hubby (I’m thinking a dirty dishe bin) that will eliminate his mess when the dishwasher is filled with clean dishes.

Day 2: Dress to shoes

I got a bit discouraged last night because I don’t fit into any of my clothes, not even my fat clothes.

However, this am, I put on some running pants (they are my go to for now) and clean under garments and laced up my shoes.

Weird thing happened:

Little girl (3) followed mommy, got her outfit on and shoes, brushed her hair and went potty- SAY what!?! I have the most trouble getting her to follow the getting ready routine.

I should have dressed to shoes 3 years ago. Better late than never.

Also, both kids had great manners (please and thank you) and said they loved me over 6 times.

Damn I love these shoes.

After I got my shoes on I decided what the heck lets tackle the dining room table.

Who is this woman? I’m impressed…

Day 3: Using Reminders – instead of the typical sticky note method I went for physical reminders- shoes are right at my bedside, clothes laid out, etc. no need for a sticky note- however, I am only on day 3 so really anything can happen.

Plus Day 2,1

✅ Dress to shoes – my feet hurt so bad by the end of the day- possibly because wearing the shoes makes my mind think I’m some kind of successful person who gets shit done- my body on the other hand was not prepared and likes to protest.

✅ Shine your sink- still clean, still bringing me those happy vibes.

Day 4: Routines and Limiting Screen time

Horrible day today, the Flylady’s system is based on short bursts of time decluttering and cleaning.

Set a timer – do whatever you can – timer stops you stop. That’s amazing in theory, however, my kids create a 60 minute mess in the 15 mins I leave them alone to their own devices.

No wonder I am overwhelmed- at this rate my home will never be the sanctuary I desire. Just very frustrating that I can’t get a hold of raising the kids and cleaning.

Day 5: Breathe (5mins)

And friggen suffer, I absolutely can not sit with myself for 5 mins without doing something- my blood feels as if it’s boiling, I begin to sweat, I shake- not happening.

This may take a lot longer than one day.

But the Sink is Shined✅ and I dressed to shoes✅- pat on the back

Day 6: Tackle a Hot Spot (2mins)

Flylady: how to declutter

It seems EVERY spot in my home is a ‘Hot Spot’ I have this issue where clean surfaces seems extremely empty. Then I get an urge to fill up all the empty space. It definitely doesn’t help that when the clutter is gone the entire home echoes.

But it’s time for a change so… tackling one TINY hot spot today.

✅ Dress to shoes

✅ Breathe- I went to the bathroom alone for 5 mins (with three kids- that’s amazing)

Day 7: Pick your tomorrow clothes

Easy for me, I always know about what I’m going to wear as I don’t actually have much variation to begin with (running pants, fresh undies and bra, new black shirt) one day when I’ve lost all the baby weight and become less poor I would like to buy a new wardrobe until then I work with what I’ve got.

However, I’d really like to get in the habit of helping the kids pick out their outfit the night before to make mornings easier. So I’ll begin to build that habit instead.
